This is driving me crazy, can anyone please help me figure out how to turn on the cargo lights while on the road? Or does anyone have a wiring diagram that includes the high mounted brake/cargo lights? There has got to be a way to do this.
In for answers too. I like to keep an eye on my trashcans I sit on my tailgate when going up and down the driveway when I get home from work in the dark.
Looks like if you can find the connector (S316), you can apply power to the white/green wire (or white if you have LED's) to turn the lights on with a switch....or that's my way of thinking. Try at your own risk.
Ummm, why is this needed when the vehicle is in motion.
Just curious.
It's nice to be able to check on your cargo when it's dark out. Gas cans, trash, tarps, anything strapped down for loose straps, etc...
I used the hell out of it with my last several trucks (regular cabs). I realize you folks with CC trucks might not be able to see your bed for it to matter to you. I can see the tail-end of my bed by the tailgate in my Supercab. It's where I haul my gas cans, oil jugs, toolbox, winch, battery, chainsaws, etc... It's nice to keep an eye on them while driving out winding mountain roads.
Wonder if the 5mph limit can be bypassed... i just installed a BoostedGreyGoose designs plug & play adaptor for the mirror spot lights, that now they function at all times and no longer automatically shutoff at 5mph.
Check your state regs, but often it is not allowed to show white light to the rear except when reversing. Of course if you are on private property moving trash cans, etc. this wouldn't apply.
Or, you can grab the White wire coming out of the connector in the passenger side footwell:
This is all great info, thank you! I looked for days for these diagrams/CAD illustrations without luck. Where do you get these? I'll let you know what I do with it in about a week or so. Thanks again!

I just did the same but it didn't cost me anything. Here's the video for it:
I really don't care if there's a law against it. I'd rather get a ticket than not know if my bike has fallen over. I do a lot of woodworking as well and just want to keep an eye on the load at night. It's not like I'm gonna flip them on when there are cars behind me.
What about cracking your door open? Not all the way closed, but not wide open. Wonder if the door open would override the 5mph rule.
I doubt it, these trucks seem to have the speedometer telling several modules the current speed. I wouldn't want to have to open the door anyway. I'm pretty OCD and don't even like the idea of routing it to my upfitters. I just wan the factory button to do it's job at any speed.
