out on the highway in over drive if you give more pedal to climb a hill and the trans. kicks down to third the eng, will loose all power as though it is not getting enough gas . no pedal and back fire spitt sputter until you let up and runs fine if you feather the pedal.same in park feather the pedal to full throtle ok but jump on it and will rev to 1200 and miss, fart bogg out??
shut down , resatart will all work fine for 20 min. or so .then start again.
gas is good ran inj. cleaner, eng shows no codes trans fluid good
will do it with overdrive off as well.
will a fuel pump heat up and show intermitent problem or just quit??????
any ideas?????? prob. just started no smoke
Yes , fuel pumps go bad like this, you need to chk the fuel pressure.should be between 30-45 psi.
as stated before, there is also a fuel pressure regulator in this system also.
Please use caution when dealing with gas!
You can also have the truck scanned with a capture mode and read all things happening at the time of symptoms.
code showed a bad coil on plug # 6 and 10 fouled plugs
ford dealer changed plugs and 1 coil still same prob!!!!!!!
bought a fuel press. guage and ran truck till it was acting up and found that press. dropped to 5 psi when crapping out on full throttle , but 30 to 40 when running good???
changed pump in tank and so far so good keeping my fingers crossed!
thanks for all the advice
