8BA Timing Marks

I have a ’53 F-100 with the 8BA flathead V8. The timing pin on the cam cover is easy to see and when I rotate the engine to TDC a small dowel head on the crankshaft pulley aligns with it. The pulley itself is rusty and I cannot see timing degree marks on it, say from 00 to 150 or more. Should the pulley have these timing marks? If so, they may just be covered with rust and need to be cleaned. If not, how do you time it to spec?

When the dot aligns with the pointer, the engine is at 2° BTDC, which is where the static timing is to be set (vacuum disconnected). There are no other marks.

Thanks for the info. Sounds simple enough.
