2005 f150 xlt 4x4. 4hi works but 4low not engaging. Doesn’t feel like anything is trying to engage. Shifts into and out of 4hi fine. Replaced both front actuators and solenoid. Also replaced the transfercase motor. Is the only thing that it could be is a broken transfercase? Or course there be a issue with vacuum or hub or something else possibly?

Just to make sure - you are in neutral and foot on the brake when shifting into 4lo?

on my 2006 F350, sometimes it would take awhile to shift into (and out of) 4lo. Used it very little though - just when plowing deep heavy snow

yes I have tried It with foot on brake and in neutral. Tried doing it from 4hi to 4low and 2wd to 4low neither is working. Tried turning off and back on as well. Will try again and try going backwards a little to. The 4low light is not coming on as well. It goes into 4hi with no issue.

Is the 4WD 30A fuse #111 good?

By actuators do you mean the IWE's at the wheels? And then you also did the solenoid at the firewall?

If so, slow down and learn about how the 4wd system works. You're replacing the valve in your toilet when the kitchen faucet is dripping.

If you're not getting the GEAR REDUCTION of 4lo this has NOTHING to do with powering or engaging the front wheels. The GEAR REDUCTION happens 100% in the planetaries which live in the t-case.

Remove your shift motor and see if you can manually turn to 4lo. Try in N with parking brake set. Don't be afraid to try to rock either d/s to maybe aid engagement.

Also have a helper shift to 4lo and see if the motor is moving that far.

You need to figure out if the motor is capable of rotating enough to engage the 4lo position and if the t-case can physically be put into 4lo

Seriously ....you'd be ahead to buy a multimeter to test continuity. This way you get a tool for life that will save you $$ for the rest of your life. As it is you're likely gonna just have an extra fuse

Yea already ordered a tool to don’t worry. Going to try to mess with the transfer case like you said to. I had to replace the iwe because it was broken.

So what was it?

Did you figure it out? I would agree with the Chap that suggested to begin looking at the Transfer case Actuator...

Ended up being transfercase. 4low was blown but 4hi was still working. I ended up replacing every 4wd part on the truck because it has been having issue after issue.
