Modifying late 99 up pipes for E99???
I am not afraid to cut and weld...anything. rockauto has L99 uppies, same part number as the popular dorman bellowed pipes but branded as Ultrapower, for $90. Cheapest E99 I can find are 300. Does anyone know how different the two pipes are? I understand the L99 to be longer...but dont know how much longer. I'm hoping I could cut and inch or so out, sleeve them, set in place and tack the sleeve, remove and fully weld.

Have you called a junkyard? I was originally going to get one of the v10 y pipe mod kits for my rotted E99 y pipe and weld it because I couldn't find a reasonably priced replacement online. I made some calls to a few yards and managed to find one for an E99 v10 for $50. I don't know the exact differences, but If you can cut and weld and know how to do basic fabrication, i wouldn't think it would be that hard to modify one.
