Great topic. If I may veer off just a bit, what is a rational time period to assume fuel is suspect after sitting? I've left the same gas in my tanks since late June during my motor replacement, mainly due to mission creep as it's just handy to fix other items while the motor is out and day job, yadda yada.I know both tanks received a liberal dose of seafoam before she was parked and it's all top tier gas. The front tank is even ethanol free.

Should I empty both tanks and call it a day? What's the best method for doing so? I'd like to avoid pulling the bed off, but I can if it will save me grief later.

I think it depends partly on temperature, and the type of fuel system. The really old stuff had steel tanks open vented to the atmosphere. Direct sunlight, parked outside means wide temperature swings. A 1/3 full tank will suck in lots of humid air and condense on the metal walls of the tank at night. During the day the heat boils all the "light ends" or volatile aromatics of the fuel. If the tank is kept nearly full and garaged it "keeps" better. A sealed fuel system even better.

Well my tanks should be nearly full, so that's good.
