Getting pretty close to finishing the interior. Here is door with correctly space holes/
and here are the clips...also Dennis Carpenter
I can not grasp how these attach to door. I am about to carefully cut out a rectangle in door just the size to fit the center section of clip so that so that I can push the the angled "nut" portion of clip through the door and then screw armrest on. Did others find this situation.
I seem to remember in the mid 70's these same clips slid into slots cut into the door ...or My memory is a bit loose on this info.
Put a couple machine screws through the armrest. I think you will find they are angled upwards then you can see how to orient the L nuts on the backside of the inner door skin. The L nuts are not an exact reproduction but should work.

i thought the same thing. I just screwed it in and it’s pretty sturdy! Probably not the correct way but it worked
When I removed the armrest from my 65 CC there was a threaded metal support bracket on the backside of the panel the screw mounted to, if interested and time permits I will try and locate them for example purposes. The armrest in the pic is just screwed into the door panel and feel fairly secure. The screw measures approx. 1 3/4" with a wide Phillips head. I would probably use the hardware shown in the pic U posted and suggest take them to store to check for fitment.
Thanks Dave. So the clip is not attached to the door but is just held tight to the inside of the door with long mtg screw through the armrest.....hmmmmm
I posted this drawing in another thread quite awhile ago. That is the PN for those clips if you can find some originals they are #12-24 thread I believe. That size screw is getting hard to find so I rethread them to 1/4-28.
Also if you are going to use the plastic trim panels there is a wood shim that goes between the armrest and the door panel to keep the arm rest from crushing the plastic when it is tightened. the shim was just taped to the door with masking tape by the factory.
Morning all. Not sure why I was having such a hard time envisioning this ......my brain kept insisting that the clips must be attached to door somehow.
Anyhow , again I appreciate all your help guys. Got them on, and a new/used pair of door panels, and my repaired and painted steering wheel. Here she is today
Really time to get back to exterior.....sanding, sanding, sanding, sanding....
This post came along just in time for me. I was waiting for a pair of armrests to come in the mail when I read it. I made some L brackets as illustrated. The put a nut behind the bracket, like a jam but I suppose. Don't forsee them coming loose Armrests are in the mail. Black.
Did you make the door panel Dan? I like it ..simple and clean. Since I don't have the panel trim, I'm skipping the idea of panels right now....maybe down the road, when there is nothing left to do to the truck.....hahahaha.
Black armrests will look real nice on those panels
