If I make this a 2x2 package, at 21 pounds, its looking like about 60 bucks...although I don’t completely trust the online shipping calculators....

Thinking too much?? It would be nice if both Hasting and mulegal could split this piece to fix both trucks! There’s enough metal there, I would just need to lay it out to insure you each have adequate material. It might save each on shipping and my father in law’s F250 would be proud to take part in two resurrections! Think on it....

Resonateur: that will do it thanks! IF you can or have the means to rip that lengthwise...6" in from the narrowest portion down by that cutout then cut the 6" x 49" in half to ship, the rest might be enough to help out mulegal also. I can work with the semi triangular piece. If you cut it in half, try to use metal shears so when I butt weld it back together there won't be a gap like what happens when you use a cutoff wheel. That way it will fit the full width of the bed so the two half size humps on each end line up too. Unbelievable... finally found someone like me that won't throw out parts like this...just in case! Watch out for the COVID.

That's what I just suggested in a long post to you. New to forum...I thought a message popped up about something to do with the moderator. But it went away too quickly to read. Too long a post?

..amazing! I'll get my square out and see what we can make of this. As long as you don't mind welding in two or three pieces. It looks like you're pretty clean at cutting and fitting and your photos give me a good idea of what you need. As mentioned, I'll try to make sure you get the short edge with the metal folded under to match your cut line on the sides. Mulegal...if you have the opportunity to send a photo as well....

If you can rip it lengthwise 6" in from the narrowest part...blue side pic...then cut it in half, I'll just need to butt weld the two halves back together and have to 2 half humps on each side.

Better yet, if you can cut out a 6" x 49" even strip you may be able to roll it up since it will be a relatively narrow piece and ship it that way in a box rather than cutting it half and shipping it flat. That way mulegal will have an additional triangular piece on the top right section to fill in the hole you cut out.

I’ll try that first. I’ll try to cut it a little larger so you can provide your own squared-up finish line. It may roll up in a box as you suggested, but I don’t want to kink it....

You're probably right...I think it's close to 16 gauge. That might be a pretty big box before it kinks.

Can't get a pic to download....but if you're willing to go through the extra work of cutting and packaging 2 parcels resonteur...I'll be very happy to pay whatever shipping comes to.

Exact same repair that Hasting is doing....but my damage goes 6" deep rather than Hastings 5"..so 6"X49"

I don't mind cutting and piecing to fit. This is a great idea...and would help us both.. You are the best!

just let me know...be safe and love these old fords

....I don’t mind. I’ll get to work on it...probably tomorrow. I’ll post the layout before I cut...stuck home anyway and tired of painting!

here is best pic I could get today. A PO had patched it with about a quart of bondo stuffed in there..and then bolted a toolbox over it.

Anyhow with your generous offer of the steel bed pieces I'll be able to weld it up...and yes I know the headboard is bent...but it'll all get taken care of...it was the bed floor steel that had me stopped.

thanks again
