I think you can adapt it but if I am correct it will have the angled tops and not the flat ones that came on the 1978.

I think they were the same from like 1957 or something like that until 1977.

I know the rear fenders are different on the OBS trucks, but are the bed-side panels the same as the '77-'78 trucks?

I purchased mine in Canada. A guy makes them up there.I have the steps and the fenders also. I am waiting for the body shop to mount it. it is just lying on the 2"x 6" pieces. Nice splash pan on the back. I have the boards stained and polyied ready to go. This is an old picture I have doors and windows in as well as the inner fenders and the E brake, clutch, brake, heater ,wipers ect. Let me know if you want his information. The metal is nice and heavy. hentzr@comcast.net

I have had a newer box on the truck for a few years. it was the newer ones with the fiberglass fenders. They are all close and I just did small work arounds and everything fit. I worked for ALCOA and put an aluminium floor in it last time.

I just realized what you meant about the bedsides. I thought they changed in 1978 but it may have been 1977. I purchased this truck new in 1978 with a flare side box. This is my fourth box. LOL

I asked him to assemble mine and he was kind enough to do that so I took a closed trailer up last winter to retrieve it. I visited to Corning glass factory one the first night, and the next day I picked up the box and came back through Niagara falls and stayed a night there. It was a nice time to visit. The falls were Frozen. I am retired so the wife and I made it a mini vacation to break up the drive. He will ship them usually.
