Well guys and gals I installed the Hydra today and I must say it was really a snap after all the help from everyone....Thanks to all who chimed in with advice.
The install went very well, no problems, just a little elbow grease. In the past I have used the 6 position ****, can't remember the name...and I used X-treme Power Chip and I will have to say I am really, really impressed with the Hydra. Even though I have only had experience with the three mentioned I believe I will have to agree with Mr. Sous that the Hydra is the best thing out there for our 7.3 Liter engines hands down!
Now I want to ask what settings do most of you use when you tow and when you don't tow. I think that would be a great help to me. Why? I have a 5 X 8 small trailer and a 36' 5th wheel I drag around from time to time. I'm thinking for the small trailer when loaded about using the 25 hp tow and the 65 hp tow for pulling the 5th wheel up and down these Pacific Northwest Mountains. All advice is welcome.
Do you have gauges? You got it backwards. 25hp for the heavy trailer and 65 for the lighter one. But it all depends on your EGT's. I am guessing you have gauges because you had other chips. If you can tow the heavy trailer in the hotter tune then that is a bonus. I try and tow with my 60hp tow tune as much as possible but I have to watch that gauge like a hawk!
Thanks Bonanza35...Yeah I have EGT, Boost, and Fuel Pressure gauges on the pillar...Yeah I thought I may have had it backwards for towing with the hydra. I also have Torque Pro and CarGargePro set up on 6" cell phone via ELM327 Bluetooth that gives me lots of other options like tranny temp, coolant temp, hpop pressures etc as well as diagnostics.
