Okay guys I have gotten the guages and bigger exhaust and iam thinking of going from the current 75 hp chip to the 100 hp chip was just wondering with the 100 hp chip and towing around 7000lb trailer will I run into problems?
Get a Flip Chip with 3 settings So you can Tow safely and Still have some Real Getup and Go.
I suggest Stock,Tow and Extreame Race Modes.
You wont be sorry
Having a swooped up powerstroke as an everyday tower of a 6000 pound trailer myself i think i might be able to help you. I have been told that using 100 hp chip and towing is way to stressful on your engine, your exhaust temp will run higher, it can effect your transmission, 50 is what most companys recommond for towing but i use a 80 and that seems to work ok while keeping my exhuast temps normal and my transmission shifts strong and perciese.
Yea thats whats cool about this site ask qusetions and get answers. You mentioned shifting and that reminded me of something else have shift kit it tranny shifts great until it gets to drive then it seems as though the truck hmmmmm for lack of better words seem to fall on its face unless you stay in the trottle really not to happy about that. seems like it shifts into drive a little to soon and ideas about that?
I'm not the biggest transmission buff around but on my tranny i put the triple disc clutch torque converter in it a hughes pan and had a little valve body work done and the thing runs pretty good with the 80 hp chip and 6000 lb trailer. you might want to try to use a synthetic transmission fluid. that might help your problem. I use that Royal Purple synthetic trans fluid and it works good and keeps the trans temp normal. sorry i can't be of more help with the transmission problem.
