Phone/Sync problems

In my 2015 F150 my phone will connect to Sync, but when I try switching it from the radio to BT, it doesnt switch. I've Googled this only to find the problems people are having not being able to connect their phone. My phone is connected. It says it on the display, it just won't switch over to BT Stereo when I click it. Just stays on the radio. Any tips?

Is the volume up on your phone or is the music app enabled?

Yes. Everything is fine on my phone. It's just when I hit the BT Stereo button, it never switches from the radio to BT it just keeps playing the radio.

I hope I’m wrong but it sounds like your APIM is acting up.

Have you had it checked by your dealer?

Before going this route, have you tried a Master Reset of the system?

You have a 2015 so did you swap the system from MFT to SYNC 3 or did you purchase it new with SYNC 3.

I didn't swap anything. And I'm pretty sure it's never been messed with.

The reason I asked was because 2015 F150’s didn’t come with SYNC 3......they came with MFT.

If you purchase it used, then perhaps the previous owner swapped the MFT system out for SYNC 3 or if you purchased it brand new, it must have been a very, very late 2015 build.

With that being said, try the master reset because sometimes that’ll clear up weird problems with the system and it’s features. If it doesn’t work, then the APIM is suspect because they’re known to cause problems with the infotainment system.

I'll give it a try. Thanks. Just curious, what was the difference between MFT and Sync 3?

MFT was a Microsoft based infotainment system and user interface that really wasn’t ready for prim time but some owners like it. Also, it’s definitely slower than SYNC 3.

Totally different screen display.

SYNC 3 is Blackberry based infotainment system and it also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It’s more advanced than MFT and it also supports more apps but the main thing is the ability to use the cell phone / car interface from Apple or Google and both of these interfaces blow the stock MFT and SYNC 3 Interface out of the water.

Cool. Well I master reset and reconnected my phone and works fine now. I started noticing problems when my wife hooked up her phone also. So it would almost get confused at which phone to connect and got harder and harder to do so. Eventually just stopped connect. But all is well now. I'll just tell her to stop connecting her phone to my truck 😆

The MFT in my truck does all I need it to do. If I need directions I just use my Pixel and Waze or Google maps. I can't stand the Stinc 3 screen in my wife's edge. Too damn distracting. I am not one for all the bells and whistles. I prefer simplicity.

Hooray and good for you.

Glad to hear that MFT fulfill your wants and needs.
