I got new brake shoes and drums for the Old Dana 60. All the linings are the same length, but the linings are offset oppositely on the shoe. One starts at the beginning, then ends early, and the other starts further down and ends at the very end. Which way would the correct way to install them? I am guessing that having the lining further down on the front shoe and further up on the back is probably going to be better (?)
Not sure if you have the same brakes/drums as mine, but here's a thread with photos of the shoes. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ke-judder.html
Sorry about the photobucket watermarks, Quite annoying they added those.
I am surprised photobucket is still in business. A lot of people left them, including me when they made that decision. They were going to stop free hosting all together, but then I guess they decided to let you still do it, but put that all over the picture. Just pay them money each month and it will go away.

Yeah, I haven't gotten around to finding another hosting site, and then moving all my photos. Probably what they are counting on. lol

Ok lets consider we are looking at the drivers side or left rear drum. The Shoe on the left (front shoe) is the primary shoe the one on the right (rear shoe) is the secondary shoe.
The primary shoe gets the pad that starts further down and ends at the very end The secondary shoe gets the one starts at the beginning, then ends early.
The Passenger side is the same primary shoe (front shoe) gets the pad that starts further down and ends at the very end. The secondary shoe (rear shoe) gets the one starts at the beginning, then ends early.
All top mount slave cylinder drum brakes are done like this.

Thank you for the precise info. Confirms my thought and gives me the confidence to actually get to installing them.
