SCT Tuner

Other than the towing selection with this tuner, any wisdom out there on these, better tunes, shift points etc. New to the tuner stuff. I have a 99.5 F350 7.3, not looking to smoke tires or damage the engine, just a little more guts when I'm pulling my 14k 5th wheel.

When towing with any tune, I would be more vigilant of the engine and transmission temperatures.

I would be concerned on lifting the heads. So has it been studded?

The 7.3 heads are not as susceptible as the 6.0 heads are. So long as you don't go overboard you'll be fine there. You WOULD want to go with getting your tranny upgraded to heavy duty tho and install a better cooler like the one in the 6.0. Many have done this. Go to the 7.3 forum to get more/better info.

On my 2000 7.3 I ran a SCT. It was ok. I had the normal complement of gauges, Pyro, boost, and tranny and some other mods. The gauges are important. I then upgraded to a DP tuner and ran the 60HP tow tune. That made a big difference mostly in the way the tranny shifted and downshifted. I liked that tune a lot and made me a believer in that there are better programs out there than stock.

@flyingtexan , you would get much more realistic, accurate and unbiased answers from the sub-forum based on your specific truck/engine.

For your convenience, I have linked it below. See you there!
