Several times when I have tried to pass someone, the truck will accelerate really hard up to 70-80mph and then just stop pulling like it’s hitting the speed limiter. Then today when pulling my camper, I passed a slower car in the right lane going up hill and when I got in it pretty good, it did it again. Is this some sort of traction control issue or a built in “safety” of some sort? Can I get rid of it with FORScan?
yes that is correct. I’m saying it acts just
line the speed limiter. It only seems to happen when you floor it and change lanes. I’m convinced it has something to do with the lane keeping BS that’s on the truck. If I change lanes without signaling, it tells me to take a rest.
My 18 has done that once but at lower speeds. I just pulled onto the highway while pulling a 18ft enclosed snowmobile trailer. I went to stomp on it and it didn’t go anywhere. I had to let off the throttle and then reapply force to the accelerator. Truck went after that. I just thought it had something to do with the trans factory tune not liking what I was doing.
Actually...I don't know the specifics of these PSDs. My last diesel was a 2016 Cummins, so these new PSDs might have a different way to go about it....if at all. Check in the 6.7L forum for even more info: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum205/
I wonder if Pedal Commander would be useful. Anybody have Pedal Commander and know if it eliminates this issue?
Hope you get this solved as it could get you in trouble on the road.

Pulling a load, up hill, nailing the throttle. I'd say you are looking at a traction control engagement. This will make the traction control light flash, but you may not notice it. So, try it and see if you get the light flash, or turn off TC and try it.
I would think it was more of a transmission saving de-throttle.
This could be true but shutting the truck completely down like it does is just dangerous. I could live with a slight de-rate in power but this is an abrupt shutdown. I’m sure I will learn to drive around it and it won’t be an issue but it’s frustrating to have 1050ftlbs and only be allowed to have 750 when I need it.
