Ive got a 2007 Expedition Eddie Bower that has about 220k on it. I bought the truck as a 1 owner with 87k on it and it was dealer maintained its whole life until I got it. I did typical maintenance on it as far as changing all fluids, coils, plugs, and any other repairs (fuel pump, hubs, joints, ball joints, ect) but never the timing set, I never had any noise or issues and was dreading it.
During the last sparkplug change I had the typical issue with the plug snapping off in the head, while extracting it, I had crap fall into the cylinder and just decided it was time to pull the motor and freshing it up, so that's where I'm at.
my question is if I was to go 30 over on the pistons, or add a set of aftermarket cams, how would that effect the programming and performance? Would it be worth it to do either?
I'm kinda old school, as far as it didnt take a genius to bore out and slap a set of cams in a carbed mustang or camaro.
I am no expert but I do think a different grind on the cams will be a problem. Maybe your PCM will need programing.
Hopefully somebody here knows for sure if different cams will work ok.
With 220K miles you may need a new timing chain set and an oil pump. A new long block may cost close to rebuilding your engine. But if you like doing your own work don't even think about a new engine.

Ordered a whole kit for it, high volume oil pump, timing chain set, bearings, seals, and exhaust manifolds as well. The kit comes with new pistons, and it's the same price for a 30 over set, wasnt sure if boring it out would mess with much in the programming or if it would even be worth it to do it. I guess I should of said rebuilding it instead of freshening it up
