Steering stabilizer?
Steering stabilizer?
Hey fellas, after finally getting the King Ranch back up and running last week, it started having a random, alternating, left/right pulling issue while driving. I quickly came to the conclusion it was my steering stabilizer causing the issue. The str. stab. is less than 2 years old with maybe 15k miles on it. It is a single dampener, and I think it is a Monroe but not positive. What are your thoughts on these? Best brand/durability, single or double dampener? Oh and my truck has small lift w/ 36” tires, that probably makes a difference.
Stabalizers mask symptoms, they don't cause what you describe. Some of the things that can cause your issue are worn tires, rusted tight front axle u-joints, worn tie rod ends, ect..
Jack the front end off the ground and have someone wiggle the steering wheel side to side while you look for loose parts. This would be a good start.

I agree with you totally, but the steering stabilizer is definitely screwed up. After I removed it, when I compress or extend it, there is a 1.25” dead spot and when it finally “grabs” it is real hard then gradually smooths out.
