Forgive me if this is a previously covered topic, but my searching through these forums and on the greater web did not yield any answers, or at least not the one I was hoping for.
I want to start going through the suspension on my '93 250 4x4 manual 460, and all I can find are poly bushings. My problem with poly bushings is that they eventually start to squeak and I cant stand it. I don't want to be another redneck with a squeaky old Ford so I am on the hunt for rubber bushings but I can't locate them. Have you guys had any luck in this area? Will I have to go through Ford?
Also one supplementary question: Im going to give my steelies a sprucing up but I don't know what color the stock wheel paint is. Id like to match the stock coating. Does any one out there know?
Poly might squeak, but it does hold up. Beware imported el-cheapo bogus "rubber", it often doesn't hold up worth a damn. So maybe the best course is to find some Motorcraft NOS if going that route.
NOS stuff is a pain to find. If you are adamant about using NOS OEM stuff, you'll need the original part numbers, and a way to search for them (like Partsvoice) https://www.partsvoice.com/partsearch
You can get the OEM part numbers on Rockauto by looking at the crossover numbers.
Yep, gotta have a valid Ford part # or #s to search, no matter what it is. Then it's like magic. Check ePay too. I'm told Steele Rubber makes good stuff as far as repro parts are concerned. I don't know if they make those bushings though.
