Been some time since I’ve last posted. Finally replaced all fo the bulbs on my 73’ F250 CS 2wd w/360FE. The driver rear brake light does not work (the rt side does) nor does the driver rear blinker. I also noticed when I put the truck into reverse, the reverse lights come on for a brief second, but do not stay on while in reverse. When going from reverse to park, they come on again for a split second.
I tried doing a search, but didnt see anything parallel. Any ideas where I should start looking?
Could be a ground issue or a bad socket. the turn signal switch can also cause all sorts of these problems.
Your backup light problem sounds like a neutral safety switch issue which also runs your revers lights. but of course all of your problems have other possibilities. .
Check grounds and sockets. Even check your new bulbs.
Your backup switch might be going bad or loose.
Auto or manual trans?
On a manual the backup switch is under the trans. tunnel on top of the transmission. Kinda a pain to get to. .
There are some other posts on here describing where the backup switch is on an auto. I don't remember off the top of my head.
It is amazing how wiring gremlins show up. With ours we thought our lighting problems were fixed about 3 times until the fixes finally stuck. (Still can't get LED tail lights to work, so gave up)
The weather is going to break tomorrow so I plan on checking all of the grounds then. And I apologize I forgot to mention its a 360 w/Auto (C6) trans. I have already ordered the NSS for good measure regardless. This one (from what I have reviewed) is located on the steering column and not the trans.
Has anyone replaced one and any input of things I can expect.
