Hello, My 1976 F250 needs new summer tires. Would prefer to find AT's sized 9.5 R16.5 LT, but where can they be found? Only tires available are Firestone Transforce HT's?? Alternatively, would like to use 16" rims with original outtie wheel covers that I have. Do any 16" wheels accept vintage Ford 16.5" wheel covers? Please comment and let me know your thoughts! Thanks!
CS
Im not sure about your covers fitting, they look real nice,,,,,but you can get steelies up to 1997 16" and that gives you alot of options for rubber,,,I just picked these 1993 up,came with rubber for 100 on facebook market place
The only 16.5 tires I was able to find were Super Swampers or similar bias ply mud terrains. Never saw anything in an AT or anything less aggressive. They are a dying breed, that's why so many have gone to 16 or 17s.
I think a 235 85 16 is pretty close to your 9.5s, if you know anyone with an 80s or 90s truck with stock steel wheels I would just see if one of your caps fit and go from there
CS, I finally bought some White Spoke 16" wheels from Discount Tire. The price of a new tire from Discount was $250.00 plus depending on brand and availability.
If you go this route, make sure the wheel will fit over the Dual-Piston Calipers, if your truck is so equipped.
Somewhere I have the old hub caps... probably holding lug nuts, brake parts and assorted truck parts that might be needed again some day. Lol

Do the 16" wheels fit over the factory front calipers?
Difficult to answer this. Everything I researched was for a highboy (with a dana 44 front), with the dual piston front disc brakes, not sure how this relates to you. From the research I did, about 4 years ago, "most" 16's will not clear, but there are a few. I have yet to hear of a steel 16 that would clear. Again, this is all for a highboy with the dual piston front calipers.
That being said, I went with 16" Pro Comp 1069's that clear the front calipers by maybe 1/8th of an inch. If you're running a non-highboy, I imagine (but don't know) that you'd be ok, since they run a smaller caliper.
yes they came with 16.5,,,,, still have them,,,,,,,quite a few people here have done the swap,to 16,,,,,they helped me out ,they had the dana 60 up front as well 78/79 axle (disk) installed into a 75 f250 4x4 which came with drums all around

I've got a 1976 highboy with the Dana 44 front and dual piston calipers. I'm currently running 37" military take-offs. They've become not very practical especially with my worn out leaf springs. It would be great to be able to run 16" wheels so that I could share tires with my other truck.
There doesn't happen to be a list of what people have tried on this site of the different 16" wheels, does there?

There might be, but I haven't seen a list. I had heard that the pro comp 1069 in a 16x10 would clear, 4wheelparts down the street said they would but I might need a 1/4" wheel spacer to clear. I bought them anyway with the understanding that I could return them if they didn't fit. Not sure why they wouldn't let me test fit before buying, I figured it was just their policy so I didn't argue. They did fit, but barely. There might be 1/8" of clearance between the caliper and the wheel, but I have yet to have a single issue because of it. I was a little worried about a small rock or something getting stuck in there, until I looked at my other cars and trucks and saw they were all about the same, so I don't worry about it.
