I was out doing a food run to my 8.5 month pregnant daughter the other day and the empty freeways got the best of me. I punched my 6.7 2019 F250 above my normal 64 mph. I'm sure i'll be crucified for this but I kept accelerating up to about 96 where it stopped accelerating. Funny thing was, it had down shifted to 5th gear and stayed there throughout. I'll never do this again, but is there some sort of governor or something that prevents any further acceleration?
Electronically limited to 96MPH. A tire rating consideration. Search the forum. I'm sure Karen will be along shortly to shake her finger at you, so please be patient until she gets here.
First time I experienced it I just thought the truck ran out of HP at that speed. Prior to that the only other vehicle Ive driven with a limiter, was much more noticeable, like the fuel being turned off and on.

That was probably what was happening. In days before electronic throttles, the computer would cut spark and/or fuel to limit engine rpm. Now, with electronic throttle, the computer just limits the throttle body, or, in the case of a diesel, the fuel flow. That's why you don't notice anything.
Many moons ago, a young fellow I worked with had a ‘73 F100. He dropped in a 428SCJ with a 4 speed top loader. That should have satisfied everybody!!!! It was FAST!
Im pretty sure you can change it with Forscan. Im kindof ok with it though... Although I do sometimes wonder what death wobble might feel like at 110....
A 2018 Lariat with the 6.2 and 3.73 gear easily pulls to 120 on the ngauge with a data logged tune built by a reputable tuner. And your pcm is not corrupted and you still have a warranty. And not all dealership service departments are against performance / tow tuning. Top speed limiter can be set or maxed, whatever you want, depending on the flash device and setting access.
With 450 hp id bet the 6.7 would easily pull 120 mph. hell the 7.3 and 6.2 would probably do the same.
yes easily, my chipped 02 7.3 would pull 120. It was about done. It had 330 and 650 ft lb so the 6.7 would have no problem. Now should you trust the tires and the drive shaft at that speed. Tires no, haven't had a shaft out of one yet to see what it is but I wouldn't want to have one fail at that speed. Until the limiter is gone you don't need to worry! Cj
