OK, are you working with a shop manual or some other instruction or just removing parts? Is/was something broken or making noise? What were you trying to accomplish?

OK, are you working out of a book or just pulling and replacing parts? There are methods to timing camshafts and they vary by engine.
If you can turn one cam and the other doesn't move, it's time to take things apart again.

i have a book i thought the cams werent supposed to move ot sounded like something dropped
