Anything is possible given enough time and money. Are you asking if you can just take out the four speed and install any other transmission? The answer to that is no, that won't work. It takes a lot of time and money to do a swap like you're proposing.

yeah ik that, i might just go for a manual, they seem to be cheaper and me reliable, i just hate where the selector would be, do you think a 5 speed would be enough to get the top speed up to 130 or should i probably go for a 6? assuming i disabled the speed limiter, it has 3.73 diff ratio
A 5 speed isn't going to add any top speed. Why would you think a 5 speed will add top speed? And for that matter, why would a six speed add top speed? I don't understand.

well in ur opinion how would u add top speed? i mean obviously to get a 130 top speed, i’ll probs get it up to 600 hp but u can only push a trans so far, some 6 speeds i was looking at had 2 over drives 😂 1:1 and .76:1, i’m curious to see how u would think that wouldn’t add top speed
1:1 isn't overdrive, that's direct drive. Third gear in a 4R100 is 1:1. And overdrive in the 4R100 is 0.71:1, which is a higher overdrive than 0.76:1, so the 4R100 should give a higher top speed.
You add top speed by adding horsepower and reducing aerodynamic drag.
Going to a 6 speed manual doesn't get you any better gear ratio in the highest gear. 4r100 is .71:1 in OD(4th) and the ZF6 is .72:1 in 6th to get to 130 with either trans you have to spin the engine to 3700 RPM. You need to go much shorter in the axle gearing or larger tires. Trucks generally don't like to go that fast.
Out of curiosity... Why do you want/need to get to 130 MPH?

i have the other 4 speed, can’t come up w the name, ik the overdrive in tht is 1:1, yeah hp helps but i need a better trans, i’m building this to be a drag truck and i want it to run 12s if not lower so i deff need a better trans
There wasn't another transmission available in the Excursion. Every single 7.3L Excursion was built with the 4R100 four speed automatic. It's ratios are 2.71:1, 1.54:1, 1:1, and 0.71:1. If you have some other transmission you've made that transmission out of thin air. It doesn't exist.

It isn't, but the E4Od had exactly the same gear ratios as the 4R100.
The last year for the E4OD was 1998. Is your Excursion a 1998 or older? Since the first year of the Excursion was 2000, I suspect yours is not a 1998.
Once again, the ONLY transmission that was in a 2000 Excursion was the 4R100. There is no other possibility. I know you don't like that, but you're wrong, plain and simple.

yeah i must have been mistaken, i could’ve sworn the over drive was 1:1 tho, maybe bc that’s what it is in my aviator, idk, do u think switching to a manual will be anymore reliable tho?
