Please keep in mind that the arbitrary letters indicate which parts can ship together. Not actual shipping locations. If you work the other way (add the engine gaskets to the shopping cart) the number of "shipping locations" decrease. Our inventory is dynamic and constantly reflected in our catalog. The shopping cart is trying to bundle the parts in the most efficient way possible. Shipping is not a profit center for us, what you pay us for shipping is what the carriers charge us, and is passed directly to them.
I have 4 parts, all ship from B except the gaskets.
so I remove the gaskets and then they label the 3 remaining parts locations A, B and C.
wtf is that BS?
That's one of the huge downsides to dealing with RA---apart from them having become far, far more unfriendly in the so-called customer service aspect. Gawd forbid you need or want to return something--doesn't quite flow as smoothly as it does when buying.
I've used them in the past but most likely won't in the future----typically it's just as easy buying locally and not all that much more costly when all factors are considered.
Glad to see them supporting FTE but they could use a bit of improvement IMHO.
I am starting to support local businesses more and more even though items may cost more, i want to see the employees keep their jobs. My small local dealer is actually competitive to other online retailers.

Same here, all the way around. I have bought from RA before and been happy but that's before I began reading a slow increase on the dissatisfaction others have expressed.
As for the shipping thing I wouldn't call it a scam so much as saying its a factor needs to be known and accepted by the buyer BEFORE they authorize payment. First few times I bought from RA I noticed fairly quickly how their policies drove prices upward in some instances. My personal shopping habits have me looking VERY closely at shipping costs, those I believe are excessive I just continue looking and eventually find what I need/want at a price I will pay. I get that a business must make a profit but all too often its very obvious (if only to me) additional costs don't really reflect the cost a seller incurs processing the sale. I've seen the range of "reasons" its necessary to add some costs but when such actions push the cost of XYZ item over what it can be found locally buying online stops making sense.
There are probably scads (mathematical term ) of tickled to death frequent buyers and I applaud that. We all have to understand there's a cost for convenience and decide if its that convenient?
What I'm expressing here is simply my own jaded, cynical and cheap-as-hell POV.
Rock has great prices but the money you save you spend on shipping so whats the point?? I can go to my local Auto Zone get almost the same price and have easy returns.
As I said above I am a huge fan of spending local when ever possible, keeps people in your community employed, especially now.
Also agree---just this morning I decided a new part was needed, immediate thoughts almost usually say head to eBay or Amazon. Remembering I've bought this part locally once before I checked once again---its in stock less than 2 miles from me too.
In such cases, it's always a good idea to keep a close eye on your orders and shipping details. Sometimes, reaching out to the customer support team of the shipping company or the supplier can help clarify any confusion and ensure a smoother process.
And just as often you net any thing more than the same parts for more than can be obtained locally.
Only thing I've ever bought from RA was 2 gallons of Motorcraft gold coolant concentrate. Cheapest available anywhere including locally with the shipping cost. Had it at my door in 2 days. I'll shop there again.
