Hi, I'm Don Schaub. New member but I've been reading threads and following along for a long time. Been a ford guy for 30 years. I've had several projects over the years. Original project is a tube chassis 68 bronco rock-crawler(doesn't get much seat time these days). 66F250 4x4 with a 5.9 cummins. Current project is a 48 F5 coe 4x4 with detroit 4-53t. I'm self employed as a landscaping contractor and we're getting busy, so I don't always keep track of time and or responses. Heading out for maiden voyage. Around 2012 Cleveland IX piston power show 2019 3 weeks ago.
Welcome!
We ( I definitely ) need to see as many more pics of that 4x4 detroit COE you're on!
That is BEASTLY.
I've been researching diesels for my '56 COE project and was closing in on the Cummins for the straight bore / footwell space.
What can you educate me on your perspective of the Detroit vs the Cummins?
JML
I'll take some pictures and send them. As far as Detroit vs cummins, I can't really say. I swapped a cummins into the 66f250 and I love it. With the coe build I wanted to do something different. I think the Detroit was the way to go. I think it is shorter overall. The chassis is front half 1980 chevy c70 and rear half is 2008 f450 cab and chassis. The Detroit, suspension and steering were already there, so I think the body swap was much easier
Beautiful trucks.
And welcome to FTE. But, please, take your thread to the proper forum: Older, Classic and Antique pickups and/or the Diesel forum.
Please don't think me rude, but this is the intro section and we try to keep it in that vein.
Sorry, wasn't trying to start a thread here. I put up some pictures and responded to a question. Not quite ready to create a project thread, but I will soon. I'm from ohio. Between akron and Cleveland.

No apology necessary. Your beautiful vehicles and project would be better appreciated and viewed by many, many more, in their respective forums. Personally, I think you deserve to show off a little.
