glowplugs

What is the way to check and see if the Glowplug sender is working? And what is the way to see if glowplug relay is working?
My 6.9 eats glow plugs, the light on the dash for "glow plugs " comes and goes even after an hour of driving. What are the best glowpugs to purchase?

Hi Bill

first welcome to FTE.

I think you are in the wrong chapter, but anyway....

You wrote that your glow plug check light on your dash comes on the whole time, even if the engine is hot, right?

I Think you have a problem with your control switch

The control switch is located near the rear of the engine . It senses the temperature of the engine coolant and determines the length of time that the glow plugs will be on. The length of time varies between 4 to 10 seconds.

Willie: Jens right about the glow plugs. Replacement glow plug switch IH p/n 1807444C1 /glow plug w/ bullet term p/n 1819649C1 /glow plug spade term p/n 1804211C2 /early spade term up grade to solid state unit controller and bullet glow plugs p/n 1809443C96
All of these are availble thru International
