1996 F250 5.8 auto.I checked my ECT with a multimeter and the OHM range is off. Truck is dificult to start when the temperature outside is over 80 degrees. I purchased a replacment one and it is not the correct one. I checked multiple places even on this forum that DY-1144 is the correct sensor. Please see attached pictures.
But this is the connector on the truck. It is round and not square like the sensor I purchased.
Any idea what might be the correct ECT? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Appears ford no longer sales the circular connector. It is a kit with sensor and pig tale. Anyone ever spliced this connector together? It has two black wires that are not color coded. I am not sure if the original cables are color coded as well. Paper work doesn't specify on what wires go to which one. Other that that it seems pretty strait forward.
Cut original wires.
Strip old and new wires. Slide heat shrink on. Crimp wires into silver crimps and then heat shrink.
I just don't know what wire goes to what wire.
That looks just like the 1145 Oreilly's tried to sell me, until I pulled my old one out of my coat pocket, the 1145 came with the different connector and pig tail to use.
