I got a new 2019 f250 lariat stock 18in wheels and rims. I’ve got about 15k miles under truck. When I hit certain potholes in the road the truck will start violently shaking progressively worse over distance past pothole till I slow down. It does not do this when pulling a trailer. It seems like a resonance shake from the frame that gets worst over distance. Ie I hit a pothole at 60mph it starts shaking, getting worst as I travel maybe a 1/5 of a mile past the pothole till I slow down to about 35-40. I paid 65k for a rattle trap and dangerous truck, very disappointed. I read reviews before I purchased but thought they might have been a factory defect are isolated cases, Now I know different. Is there a fix, can Ford fix it? Does ford know about it? If not this truck gonna have to go. Really like truck power but can’t put my family in a danger riding with me. I will try to mount gopro on dash to get a video. Thanks for any help
Search "death wobble" on here. As you have experienced the name is scarier than it is, but that's been the term used for many years on various vehicles. Ford is aware of it, they have a TSB for it.
Lots to read re the death wobble, but in my admittedly limited experience (I've had this problem on a few trucks starting with my 1974 F-100) it's almost always related to the track bar - bushings, brackets, etc. Sad if this is the case on a truck with 15K on it though.
isolated incident ? lol your out of your mind. how could a person of reasonable common sense even conclude that . no need for videos, weve seen it many times before
“Lol isolated incident ? lol your out of your mind. how could a person of reasonable common sense even conclude that..”
Well let’s see how I could conclude that. Ford sold 1.2 MILLION super duties in 2019. Ford continue to sell them without a class action lawsuit are a defect recall for death wobble. . So sillywilly that is how I figured it was either it was isolated are a small enough percent of overall vehicles being sold to take a chance.
i understand the part of taking a chance and hope for the best. but on any given day, theres anywhere from one to three dw threads on the first page here. i dont see how anybody could possibly draw a conclusion that its just a isolated case. what the actual percentage is, nobody knows, and thats the scary part, because theres fleets of these trucks out there and we will never know their outcome. so the percentage could be far higher than we suspect. we do know that its more than just a handfull however, based on the number of threads here. either way, good luck in your quest
People that don't have problems don't log on to forums to praise them.
Using your numbers (using the higher number) of 3 per day times 365 days in a year is what? 1095 new threads about DW?
1095 is what percent of 1.2 million?
0.0009125
i agree. alot of people with a good experience wont log on to praise. but on the same token, not everyone with a bad experience is logging on either. further more, the fleet sector with bad trucks will never be posted on here. as somebody thats familiar with fleet vehicles, i assure you that our companies vehicle problem will never end up on this site or any other site. that is unknown data we will never know about, whether its good or bad data
i didnt say one to three threads are started every day. i said on any given day theres usually one to three dw threads on the first page. within those threads are usually several other posters saying they had dw as well. so each thread could have numerous owners with dw
unless your residing in a cave on the outskirts of mongolia, theres no possible way a person can say they didnt know about dw on these trucks. wether you think the percentage is low enough that youll dodge the bullet, well, thats up to you to decide.
i think the biggest tragedy of the whole situation is i get the feeling ford could care one bit less about wether the trucks wobbly or not. far as i know , their solution so far has been to go from one crap ss to another crap ss. beyond that, how have they tried to fix the problem?
This reminds me of the Ram defective tie rod ends that Ram was pressured into replacing and the faulty Hecho en Mexico frame welds that resulted in track bar brackets ripping off frame rails.
Maybe if owners of said Ram trucks would concern themselves over their issues instead of mysteriously hovering on a Ford truck forum continually on the few wobble threads, more problems would get solved and there wouldn't be anymore ''guesswork'' or "hek, I don't knows" or "on any given day theres usually one to three dw threads on the first page".
