Galion Pull Behind Road Grader

Hello, been a while since I posted here but I need some help /information. I am a senior in high school ad we have to do senior projects. A few years back I acquired the old township grader that was probably originally horse drawn. I was just wondering if anyone had any information about these graders. I'd guess that it was probably made in the very early 1900's. The tope steering wheel which rotates your blade is almost straight up and down . it appears that there should be a seat or something in the middle of the 2 wheels to change the angle and the rotating wheel. if anyone has one of these or knows anyone who does please help me out, i'd appreciate it. thanks

we have an old 4 horse road grader, with the front axle removed, that we tow with our old john deere. it only has the 2 handles for lifting either side of the blade, none for angling the blade.
most of the older road graders were ment to be operated while standing, so they could react quicker, and have more freedom of movement to operate the blade.

Dayton, can you post a link to a pic of your grader. I'd like to see one. I agree with onlybull, the operator was probably standing while using it.

I dont have a scanner so I cant post a picture, but I have found a lot of pictures of old graders on the internet, but nothng like the one that I have. It has about an 8 foot rotating blade. then there are two wheels that raise and lower each side of the blade. The wheel on the top rotates the blade. there is onother wheel on the back that I assume is to shift the back axle. I still have not found any other pictures or information on any galion graders on the interent.

Perhaps I'm having a visualization problem. Shure wouldn't be the first time

How is it different than this one if I may ask?

The one that I have appears to be a lot older. The rear wheels are metal wheels that are very big. the one you have there has leaning wheels too, the axle on this one just shifts left and right. Also the raising and lowering wheel are a lot further forward and the middle of the machine is a lot higher. and the steering wheel sticks straight up. And the fornt end is configured totally different
