Hi all,
We had to have our engine replaced on our 2006 F250 and I'd like to have the 'Hours' on the dash display reset to match the new engine (odometer would NOT be changed). Does anyone know how to do this, if it's possible?
I highly suspect that resetting the hours is akin to rolling back the odometer. I say again, I highly doubt the dealer can reset the hours. The hours are stored in the PCM/ECM and not a function of the IPC. The IPC only displays the hours.
I could be mistaken, but I don't think Engine Hours has legislation surrounding it the way Mileage does. Mileage is a good representation of the 'overall' health of the vehicle. While engine hours is specific to mostly the engine components.
I wouldn't think there's a way to reset them, because the use for that would be so limited and could be abused. If anyone could do it, it certainly would be a dealer. In any case, just keep records of it all. Future buyers will either believe you or they won't.

That was my thoughts on it as well. The hours should be specific for the engine itself. If the whole engine is replaced, the hour meter should be reset to reflect the hours of the new engine.
I want to thank all those that replied. I was hoping the shop that installed the engine could reset the hours, but if they cannot, I will see if the dealership can (and how much they would charge me to do this)
