Whenever i drive on beat up roads or hit potholes and inconsistencies in the road, i hear a clunking out of my 2000 F350 7.3. 183k miles so what are possible issues and could you ballpark the cost to have it fixed.
i also hear a clunk when i do a full left turn, but nothing to the full right.
I have the same issue on my 09 F350. I just got the truck and have already replaced U Joints, ball joints, wheel bearings and sway bar end links. Getting new shocks Tuesday. Next I'll try the springs. Mechanic who did the work on the replacement parts said he couldn't figure it out.
For me it was sway bar links. If they are original I'd start there. Easy to do, made a world of difference for me. My symptoms were it sounded like someone was knocking on the bottom of the passenger side floorboard over all bumps.
I had a very similar problem. Creaking like clunk over bumps and when braking.
if you have any man meat on your bones push up hard against the side to sway the cab and listen for the sound. If it makes noise doing that there’s a 99% chance it’s your end links or bushings.
youll be able to pinpoint the sound pretty easily as it will come from right behind the wheels in the sway bar area.
if that doesn’t work hop up and down on the bumper and have someone look under it while you do it or vice Vera.
my bushings and links are shot but I just turn on the ac or music because I’ve been a little busy and haven’t replaced mine yet.
