I just made a trip to Virginia. Had some trouble towing approx 6700lbs plus loaded bed. Truck is 99' superduty V10 auto 3.73
Hypertech programmer, K&N FIPK, Borla catback duals, double- helix throttle-body spacer. Problem was going up grades(pulling mountains). Truck went into super-low gear and wouldn't shift out or allow acceleration. Any ideas? I will try programming computer back to stock next time. I need to haul a farm tractor
and don't want a 5 hour trip to be 8 hours.
It didn't do it through the rolling hills in Maryland. Normal downshifts as if turning off the overdrive. The computer is programmed for street use. All shift points are 2 to 300 rpm over stock. When trans went into this low gear rpm was 4500 or more
and speeds didn't exceed 10 to 15MPH.
sjerseyhick- was your O/D OFF light flashing, if it was it very well could be a tranny problem and your truck went into "limp home" mode. I'd advise checking for any stored codes in your computer too.
The OD light doesn't work. I replaced the switch and cap on shifter. Still nothing but, can feel working when when pushed.
I will check computer at work and get back to you. Thanks!
