I have a 1995 F150 4x2 with a 4.9L six. The truck wanders all over the road and is hard to control. I have had it into the Ford dealer twice and both times they blamed the 31x10.50R15 tires. I have heard stories of other owners having problems with the stock tires on the truck so I do not think this is the only cause. Please, help me so I won't have to get ride of my truck for safety concerns.
Where to start... First of all, it could be a lot of different things combined. Sterring box, tie rod ends, radius arm bushings, axle pivot bushings (yes the 2wd's have these too), etc.. Is there a lot of play in the steering wheel (slop before wheels respond)? Or does it just pull to one side, causing excessive correction?

Russe, I had a bad popping noise when I needed a drag link and tierod ends. They had a lot of slop and they would slap back and forth when turning side to side. Jack up the whole front of the truck and see if you can rock the front wheels. Try up and down and also side by side. You may want to have someone inside rocking the steering wheel while you observe all of the components. There is a good chance that you will see where the slop is generated while someone else is turning the steering wheel back and forth. Good luck.
