Wheel conundrum , Opinions

I'm wrapping up a fairly high end full restoration on my '76 High Boy. it's basically all stock and per the Marti report other than a few liberties like a 428 CJ, radial tires and base/clear paint. it's a Ranger XLT and with all the bright work on the dark blue paint it looks great with the classic style polished aluminum wheels that I had on it before the restoration.

So I really like the bright wheels and with all the new bright trim they'd look sharp, but my intention was to replace them with new 16x8 stock style wheels and a full set of restored correct hub caps. ( with the fronts cut out ). as some of you may have noticed I usually have my opinions but on this I'm really not sure I'm almost to flip a coin.. I have narrowed it down to 3 options. leave my polished wheels and 315/70-16 tires on. get 16x8 stock wheels and put my 315/70-16 tires on them with the caps. use a set of 16x7 stock wheels I have and 255/85-16 tires and caps for a more original look. opinions ?

Can't wait to see some pics of the finished project.
Seeing as it's not 100% pure stock restoration, I would go with the polished wheels. Those will look great against dark blue paint. BUT (!) I would also have a set of stock wheels and tires on hand, in case I wanted a more stock look at the moment. That's what I'm planning on for my own project. I've got a set of stock spoke wheels that I had powdercoated in case I want a stock look but I intend to also have a set of custom wheels on hand.

Since you are asking opinions . Classy looking truck like that would look good to me with stock style 16x8 with stock caps.

I agree with both of you, and that's the problem.

I voted polished with stock as a back-up, F150 grabber voted stock. Looks like stock is leading 1 1/2 to 1/2.

I'm not sure what size you have in your truck now, but I know my 77 highboy on the front will not fit 16 inch steel rims.

Maybe something to double check, disregard if your truck was one of the ones that did happen to fit 16 inch rims!

I'm a fan of the original skinny's but also love updated, larger wheels/tires on these trucks. Not a fan of the large diameter wheels with low profile tires. I went with Pro Comp 1069's and I think they fit perfect. Not too shinny, not too outrageous.
