Cruise control buttons

New to the forum. I have a 99 F150. The on/off button for the cruise control broke and so I bought a replacement. Is there a way to replace this button without have to take apart the steering wheel? Thank you.

On my F250 I was able to just pop them off and replace them. This was the plastic part. The button itself still needs the removal of the steering wheel center part

You'd start by disconnecting the negative battery cable and walking away for about 15 minutes---this allows any stored electrical energy in the air bag modules to bleed off essentially disabling them for this task. Next remove the steering wheel air bag for clean access to the switches and their connection to the clock spring.

Reassemble everything, reconnect the battery cable and you should have VSC once again.
