Last year I wrote a book. It takes place in another author's universe. The book series is called "Black Tide Rising". The first book in the series is "Under a Graveyard Sky." I found it on the Baen.com website and you can get it here. I'm not trying to sell books, the link is in case you want to read the first book so you understand what's going on. John Ringo is an excellent writer and I've read just about everything he's written. You won't find my book for sale, it hasn't been seen by a publisher. Only a couple friends have reviewed it and gave high level positive feedback. I had a blast writing it, I learned a lot about writing, but I know I'm not that great at it.
A quick synopsis of the series is that someone developed a really nasty virus that turned people into zombies and then distributed it with the goal of wiping out civilization. The survivors in the first book took to sea to avoid the virus and all the zombies. But they didn't huddle up and avoid people. Instead, they were proactive about finding supplies as well as people.
Being a landlubber, I don't know jack about boats. So I wrote about the Zombie Apocalypse from the interior of the country.
Why is this being posted in the 6.7L Superduty forum? You'll have to read the book. Why now? There are things I wrote last year that have interesting parallels to what is going on now. I'm going to post it in chunks, depending on feedback. The PDF is attached.
I'm looking for suggestions on a name for the book. The names of the books in the original author's series are:
Under a Graveyard Sky
To Sail a Darkling Sea
Islands of Rage and Hope
Strands of Sorrow
The Valley of the Shadows
Black Tide Rising
The Valley of the Shadows
River of Night
The next chapters are Day 6 and Day 7. The gap between the prior chapters posted (days 2 and 3) is explained by construction of the barbed wire fence taking three days. Rome was not built in a day. I try to keep things somewhat believable.
Day 8, 9 and 10 in this post. 8 and 9 are a little short, so I added 10. My page numbers aren't showing up in the PDF. I'm not sure why the print process from Word to PDF isn't including them.
