I tried contacting CPP for help but they are running a small crew due to the virus and I can only get tech help via email, and that hasn't been very helpful so far. I'm honestly not impressed with this kit for the money that I paid for it, the installation directions are limited and they seem to have sent me extra parts but I'm not really sure since I didn't get a detailed parts list.
1st issue-- the directions say to remove the outer bearing race and replace it with the one supplied in the kit, however they also sent me 2 inner races that aren't mentioned in the directions. When I emailed them they replied to just use whichever one fit the bearing best if I have too. That seems like a pretty shady answer to me.
2nd issue-- I have a total of 8 copper crush washers, 3 extra brake line clips and have no idea how the new brake lines attach to my frame since they aren't threaded like the ones that I took off.
The line with the silver end is what came off of the truck, the gold one is when came in the kit. Can anyone shed some light on how I install the new line?
I watched the video above and a few other ones but nothing on youtube really had any information. I tried to fit the new line in the pass through hole in the frame thinking that I could put a clip on each side to hold the line in place but the fitting on the new line is barely long enough to reach through the frame. I'll write back to CPP and see what they have to say.
Are you running the stock front axle? Mustang II? Some kits have a spacer that is put on the spindle? This allows you to use the stock spindle. what are the numbers on the kit you are using? For new bearings you should always get a new race. Maybe you have to relocate the hole in the frame for more slack on the hose. Did you try the web site are there any videos or maybe better directions?
I seem to recall that when people get the parts for a swap from a '73-'79, they mention grabbing the bracket that attaches to the frame. The one the hose is secured to.
Externally threaded hose ends like the silver one you show, use a washer and usually attach to a wheel cylinder or caliper. Internally threaded hose ends like the gold one you show, connect to a metal line with a double flare.
Thanks for the help everybody, I really appreciate it. Thrifty-- this truck is all stock with the original axle, there isn't a spacer used in this kit. They did supply the outer race that needs to be replaced but the also gave me the inner races and nowhere does it say to replace them.
The silver hose that is shown was used for the drum brakes, the end shown is what goes through the frame, the star washer and nut hold it in place.
I think you guys are right that I need a bracket to hold the new line in place.
I would assume that this kit does use the GM calipers but I don't know, I'm going to ask CPP for a list of part numbers.
The more that I think about this kit the more pissed I'm getting about it.
So far I'm missing the brackets for the hoses,I've got mystery inner bearing races that they cant give me a good answer about and I already had to write to them about extra spacers in the kit that were never supposed to be in there. I paid around $800 for this , why am I changing races, grinding aluminum from the calipers and chasing down parts?!! I paid good money to get everything in a kit specifically so I wouldn't have to do this. I haven't even got to installing the master cylinder yet which should be fun since there is absolutely no mention in the instructions about it and how to adjust it.
I'll be emailing CPP tonight to tactfully tell them how unsatisfied I am with this kit.

I have what I believe is the same kit on my 63. I bought it already installed on a used straight axle. I had everything zinc plated, rebuilt the calipers, replaced the Chinese bearings with quality bearings.
You’ll want to use ‘94-‘96 Impala semi-metallic pads, they have more pad surface area than the stock D52 pads.
I also used non-aftermarket booster and master cylinder.
The brakes are 100 times better than stock.
I have part numbers if you need them.

That would be great, could you send me them sometime?

Hopefully if the Ford part numbers are incorrect, NumberDummy can provide correct numbers. Many vendors often list incorrect numbers.
That's pretty bad *** of you to give him that detailed list with part numbers. I have the same issue with most of the vendors also. You put money into their cash flow and the least they could do is give a more detailed description and more diagrams. Usually by the time directions are printed they are as so faded you can hardly make out a pic. or the print. They know how it fits they put it together but are vague on helping us the consumer that keeps them in business. grrr Rant over
Thanks for the help instig8r63 , I really appreciate it. I just emailed CPP telling them of my dissatisfaction with their kit,we'll see what they have to say.
