It's worth it to get the truck you want. Too much money to settle.
I went 608mi to OH to get mine... but that's because there weren't any F-450's in the Northeast in August of 2019!!! (Nice truck BTW, 'longhaultransport')

Thanks. Just a base 350 XL with STX package.
Had a 450 in the past but didn't need it this time.
I have looked out to 500 mi from home base. Right now inventory is what it is. I am looking for a bit of a unicorn; gas/LB/CC/SRW/4wd.
Something in the XL-Lariat range.
There are plenty of diesels and quite a few Platinum ($$$) level trucks. If I don’t act soon our camping/boating season may be in jeopardy. And that is important to our Family. So I am limited to what I can have in hand this month. I am not terribly fussy, if i get most of my ‘wants” with a truck that has the capacity (payload) for our needs, then i am good.
Still not sure I understand the difference between the standard “Electronically controlled hydraulic steering” standard on XLT + and “Adaptive Steering”.

Yeah, we're carrying a truck camper that, with all our stuff and a full tank of water, weighs 6080, so the 450 was a better choice for me. Didn't have to worry about air bags, and this and that...
And Bill_Tex, a Hellwig Big Wig sway bar can be installed and you'll have a much better sway bar than the factory bar ever would have been anyway. Had one on my '08 F-250 and my '15 F-350 and loved them - installed them both myself! They go on fairly easy! SD Truck Spring has pretty good prices... that's where I got them both. The one on the F-450 is pretty substantial so I'm happy with it!

Can anyone explain?

Adaptive steering reduces the turns lock-to-lock according to vehicle speed. At low-speed, parking lot driving, it takes less turns to steer the truck.
The Electronically controlled hydraulic steering varies the amount of "boost" or assist in the steering, meaning that it provides more boost at low speed to make it easier to turn the wheel, while providing less assist at high speeds since once you're up to speed, you don't need any boost. It's intended to provide boost only when necessary to save fuel. Older systems provided boost whether you were creeping along or driving 100 MPH.

Thx-have Big Wig on current truck. Will see if new truck requires. We run heavy also (eagle cap).
Closing in on 500 Members... NEVER in our wildest dreams, did Sean and I think that this thing could ever have grown this big! Amazing... lots of great folks with a wealth of knowledge!
