I've got a '94 F150 with 54000 miles.
Its seems if it is warm, it shifts hard. When I first drive it in the morning it shifts fine. By the time I get to work, it is shifting hard. It also has shifted down by itself a few times (like today when it shift down from overdrive to 3 for no reason). Two times it has come out of gear and gone right back in on its own. I changed the fluid and filter last weekend with FORD Mercon V, that obviously didn't fix the problem.
Is this an electrical problem?
Anyone have the same experience?
If the transmission is electrically or computer controlled, yes it could be an electrical problem. Start by cleaning any ground connections that you can easily get to, then try for a few days. Also verify that the speedo sensor is clean and plugged in good.

Try doing a search of this message board for the past six months. I have seen other messages regarding hard shifting automatics with some interesting potential solutions. I recommend not driving the truck much until the problem is fixed. Many good automatics have been ruined because of a bad sensor. Good Luck
Thanks for the replies.
It actually turned out to be the MLP sensor. I put the new FORD updated sensor on it and haven't had any problems since!!!!!
THANKS EVERYONE!
