I am changing all the gaskets on my 92 5 litre and replacing a few other parts along the way. Since I’ve got the fuel rail out I ordered a set of rebuilt injectors from rock auto. They were ordered together and all have the same part numbers, but when I opened the boxes 5 have flatter blue Pintle caps identical to what came out, and 3 are more pointy and yellow. Other than the bodies being painted a different colour they look identical, and fit the same.
Is the difference in shape going to present a problem with functioning? My concern is that if I return/ exchange the 3 that are more pointy I may randomly get another (or 3) that are pointy.
Alternatively I could just buy 3 of the flatter caps, however in that case I could just rebuild my old injectors. I opted for remanufactured ones to save time fooling around with them....
look in the end is it 1 hole, or 4 hole, check to see if they will spray clear of the hole
they all have 4 tiny holes, including the factory ones. I literally know nothing about fuel injectors, this is my first time ever removing one, and just trying to be proactive and swap out anything that is now really easy to get to with the intake off.
Does the cap play any role in combustion, or is it all the same difference as long as they are spraying fuel?
Thanks in advance for what to many is likely a simple question. Maybe I should try to refurbish the factory ford ones, but didn’t want to spend the time now that the project has taken on a life of its own... also I’m not sure how one would go about testing them in addition to replacing the orings, caps and filters..
