help with locker

i have a 95 F150 4x4 x-cab i am looking to put a locker on my truck yet do not have much money to spend. i am a construction supervisor so i can play in the mud all day going from house to house in my development ( no roads yet) but don't want to get stuck (keep the bosses from knowing i'm playing) What would anone recomend inexpensive not just cheap

What axle are you wanting to put this in?

powertrax lockrite or detroit ez locker. cheap and good as long as your not running 44s and rockcrawling.

A spool would be cheapest, but you would have to be running at least 36" tires to be able to drive it on the street. Other than that, check ebay or the ez locker or trac lock.

I dont think spools are a good idea.

Why not........they are more predictable than any locker you can buy.....they are cheap......only problem is they chew up some tread on road.

8.8 ford standard 31 spline as far as i can tell.

http://www.markwilliams.com makes a spool for a 31 spline 8.8 for fairly cheap

how about posi rear; spool up front? how do spools work in your front axle?

Very bad if you like to be able to turn in 4X4. The truck will have a bad tendancy to go straight on any slick surface and the steering effort will be increased.

I drove a Jeep with a spooled front and it wouldn't go around corners at all in the mud and when you stomp the gas it would tear the wheel out of your hands.

I think that a selectable locker in the front and spool in the rear would be perfect.....traction, but you can turn with the flick of a switch.

lock rite is pretty easy, but you need to follow the directions to the tee. It won't be that cheap, but it will be good, and you won't tear stuff up like a spool will.
