In NC they dont even issue front plates. I guess thats why custom plat makers are so numerous. You can get a plate that says anything you want and put it on, or dont have one.
Cities...counties..states!!!..They are all suffering budget crisis and most of them are trying to find ways of making money. Here in Chicago, the mayor (mafia in cognito...LOL) started going after people with more than 3 tickets. The boot is a common site and city auto pounds are over-filled. You should see the people standing in line at the auto pound on late friday and saturday nights trying to locate and reclaim their cars/trucks. Common was the "no front plate"and the tickets from the past came back to haunt ya. Get ya tickets paid, turn down the radio when driving and don't make yourself so obvious. I myself, have a black Merc Mountaineer. and the windows are totally blacked out. I've only gotten a ticket for it once and that was when they were actually stopping me for a tail light that had gone out.
Here is MA if you have a red plate and don't have a front one, they will not give you an inspection sticker. I just found out the hard way. Went in for a sticker and they said " Where is you front plate?" I said if it is not on the front of the truck where it belongs then I have no idea. No plate no sticker. Off to RMV and got the pleasure of paying $10.00 for a new one that will be mailed to me in 3 months. I did get a piece of paper that said I paid for it so I could get the inspection sticker......
Got to love Taxachussets.....
I recently ran into someone who was ticketed for having plates that were too crumpled. (you gotta see how people parallel park around here!) That's Taxachussetts, too many damn beancounters, and not enough money to pay 'em.
In Ontario Canada the annual licence sticker that goes on the plate has to put on the front plate and in clear view on trucks or they ticket you $115.00 and they inforse it.
