Hello everyone. Currently rebuilding my 79 F150 2wd. Original brake booster to the truck works as intended but is leaking. I replaced the master cylinder last year, removed it the other day to check on the booster. The rear of the master is dry. The booster is wet on the seal and leaking from the bottom.
Originally 302 powered it now has a 408ci Modified swapped in its place. Looking to replace the booster and install valve covers and possibly cover spacers.
The booster I beleive is the single diaphragm 11" and barely clears stock valve covers. I have heard about replacing it with the dual diaphragm 9" F350 2wd booster but I read there is something about the rod being different. What do I have to do to swap over to this booster? How much of a PITA is the swap or is it bolt in. Pictures and explanations are much appreciated. Thank you.
I just got the dual diaphragm 54-73311, like just today from Rock auto. It attaches to the linkage then the pedal. The 54-73112 is a duel diaphragm booster that attaches to the brake pedal itself.
Does the booster connect to linkage behind the booster or to the brake pedal it’s self?
I have not pulled the booster off to verify that yet. I would imagine there is a rod that attaches to the pedal linkage. The rod in the booster is very rusty.
There is a large spacer between the firewall and booster.

The duals have been unobtanium for a while but maybe they're available again now I'm not sure.
Replacing the booster with a exact replace will cause tall valve cover clearance issues. I have brand new NOS gold Moroso covers from the 80s I'm not looking to ding up over booster clearance.
You will need this linkage and the 54-73311 to raise the booster up. 50-3311 is also a good part number for the same booster with the master cylinder already attached.

Is there a part number for that bracket android assembly? I will order everything right now if it means I get better brakes and run my covers lol.
Is that master cylinder on it compatible or do I need to replace that again as well?
13-1682 is the master cylinder number. The bore is 1 1/16”. Don’t know if it is the same or not. Not sure what yours would be. The other nice part is the 54-7311 is smaller in diameter for more clearance also. Part # 2510468 is the fulcrum style linkage. One just sold on E-bay for $67.99 dollars.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to bleed and test today. My driveway is on a hill lol so backing down with new brake setup will be fun. I figure I'll take it down in clutched-first gear. If feces impactes the impeller than I'll slow down by trying to go forward.
Really frustrated that the booster didn't come.with nuts!
@73 hi-boy 428 fe - How has that Cardone unit treated you? I'm looking into a replacement for my '79 F-350 and that is one of the options I'm looking at. My shaft connects directly to a D8TA-2455-TA Pedal (I read the angle of actuation can be different on various pedals affecting the fitment, not really sure if that matters ???).
Bringing this back from the dead. Got my engine in and had the tall valve covers on it; they clear by around 1/2" but you won't be able to get them off without taking the booster off for service.
