Did the 3Xs hazard method and the pump brake turn key method. Both put it in re-learn mode. The re-learn tool didnt work on both attempts.
So I went to Discount Tire, which was a ghost town, and had the tech use their tool. He said the batteries are dead on all 4. Seems strange they would go all at once.
He quoted $70 per wheel.
Any way to DIY this?

Seems like more than strange. It may be helpful to get a second opinion before laying out any coin.
I do not have a problem using our local dealer and have often been of the opinion negativity is overdone. Having worked as a technician I know first hand what it is like to be working my tail off and still either being distrusted or disrespected. There is good and bad in all occupations.

It is unlikely that all 4 sensor batteries died at once, but its not impossible. New Ford TPMS sensors are cheap enough, why not replace them? Only way to DIY is if you have a way to break the bead on the tire, change the sensor and remount tire. having them balanced is a good idea, but no required.

Steve
I hear that. My local mechanic isn't doing right by me so why not go where they work on Fords all day. I may call them tues and just get all this done with.

uhm, yeah, you go online and order 4 OEM ford sensors. Then you take them to discount tire and they will mount them... for free. I did this and it cost me less than 20 bucks.
Hope everyone is safe and doing ok.
Its been a crazy time to say the least.
So I figured out what my problem was. The same shop that did the defective brake pads also mounted the new wheels. They never swapped out the sensors from my old wheels so now I have none.
Which brings me to my question.
What are the best or does anyone have any experience with after market TPMS sensors?
Or do I just go OEM?

OEM all the way. Read my post above yours.
The OEMS are cheap if you buy them yourselves.
Never transfer sensors to another wheel. Just install new ones. Not worth the hassle.
