I'm sure there is a Thread on here related to this topic butt... I rarely get out of this section So;
What are working on while you are "Working from Home"??
Since I cant get the dang 76 to act right....I'm doing the spring service work on the lawn mower, both tractors, bat-wing shredder and Ranger today and tomorrow....
Working on my 79 f100 on getting rust cut out of bed and welding in a lower panel on quarter ,,an a few cold ones to pass the time ,,I get to go back to work on Monday as I am fortunate my job is safe in my field , hope everyone can get thru this an get back to work soon , as times are hard for a lot of folks,,stay healthy everybody
Aviation is deemed "essential" so I am showing up everyday. Getting people focused and working is tough, these are unprecedented times. I stopped by the liquor store and told Cindy that if she got a shutdown order, I put 200.00 on the kitchen table, get a hold of my wife and we will make it happen. (I live in a really small town). I cannot imagine a shut-in without cold beer..........
My '74 project is making me cry. The timing is off. It only has 55k but sat for long periods and I am thinking the balancer might have slipped on the rubber. I am well above 8 degrees with advance disconnected that everyone is spouting. I am currently at 12-14 and it still hesitates when I stomp on it. All in is above 30 with advance hooked up. Vacuum is about 17 and steady.
I have an Edelbrock installed right now and set up by "an Edelbrock guy". I really should go back to a factory setup on the 390 4BBL.
My wife is tired of riding with me while I stomp on it, grumble/lift the hood/advance distributor/stomp again/repeat. She is weary of my muttering it seems! ha ha
When I go around on my test drives, I leave advance hooked up. Is this correct? I have tried to imagine a tubing routing that would allow me to have the vacuum gauge hooked on the cowl area that I can see while I romp around. I really do not want to pull the hood but I might, just so I can see the gauge on an easily attached/viewable place atop my carb area.
On a non-dentside note...I have a 1952 Desoto S17 with a 276 ci Firedome engine and Tip-Toe transmission that I am getting going again. The rebuilt carb is giving me fits. I get gas to the carb, car runs with gas poured in the carb but will not stay running with the gas line hooked up into the front of the carb. Making me crazy! (The attached photos show a capped off line that is the radiator fluid heated portion of my carb. I cut if off for now until I remove radiator and have it cleaned/repaired). If we do furlough, cold beer and cursing are in my future as I get both projects ironed out......
Well I teach and my son is in HS so we have at least another week to go. (I doubt we go back before Easter)
Before school let out I used the schools wood shop to cut out some pieces of plywood to make a bench seat center console for a floor shift. I just need to get to Hobby Lobby to get some vinyl to cover them in. (Back burner for now) I'll post my templates when I'm done.
Last week we replaced the oil pan gasket, timing cover gasket, water pump and gasket, flushed the radiator with some CLR while it was out, panted everything and put it all back together. So far so good. (Pics on the "What have you done" thread.
This week (end) or next drain the Evapo Rust cooling system rust remover, flush and refill with coolant.
Replace leaking seals/gaskets on the transfer case. (As long at they are not at the trans. coupler.)
Might pull the front axle shafts and replace leaking inner seals and replace ball joints.
I might add that all parts were already on hand. I have mentioned that several times to my wife. (She tends to complain when parts show up)
The Gov. just said the state of N.C. is shut down come Monday at 5pm.
I only worked 1 day this week, truck driver and it was 2 loads (10,000 gallons) of LP.
I know in the past LP keeps rolling but I also do cement and think that will stop now
I got to get out tomorrow to get a few parts for my 81 F100 so my oil & temp gauges work again.
May pick up oil & filter and do a change on the truck as it can use one since I got it on the road back in Nov.
May even do an oil change on the Garden tractor that I have been putting off.
