I have a 92' F-250 xlt with a cassette player and AM/FM radio. How do you get the damn thing out? The radio is above the heat/AC controls (which I have no problem getting out). The radio is behind a part of the dash that looks like it should just pop off but it doesn't even after considerable prying. On a side note it was 35-40 degrees in the truck when I was doing this. Any help would be appreciated. My goal is to hook up the stereo out put to my amp.
If you look at the face of the radio you should see four holes, one in each corner. There is a clip in each hole. You can cut a coat hanger into four pieces about three inches long, stick them in each holeto release the clips and it should pull out. Or you can by the tool made for this(got mine off Snap-on truck)which is two U shaped handles that you stick in each set of holes and then pull it out.
I went to Wal-Mart and paid 2.97 for the tool. Or should i say tools. Just ;ike they said, they're littel u shaped metal tools that have a little cut on the ends, so you feel it when you hit the spot.
Guess I'm going to need to buy another one
This one only set me back .... 3 months

radio shack sells a little box that converts the signal from a speaker wire to an RCA line, last time I checked I think they were $15 or so, my friend paid the big bucks on his honda accord to get the cd changer and didn't want to lose it when he added a amp and 2 12" infinity kappa perfect subs

U guys were lucky. When I bought my truck (95), the previous owner had the stereo ripped out. Which tore the top of the dash, and bent some stuff in the mounting area for the stereo. I tried to install an aftermarket CD this summer, and had a time getting the stereo out. Mind you, I have removed these from other fords with 4 nails before, but never had anything like this. To get it out, I had to remove the heat controls, and go up under the stereo, to push it out.
Hopefully the next time will be easy
