I heard on the news tonight that Ford will be making ventilators to help alleviate the shortage using Ford Truck parts. It is amazing how many large corporations are stepping up to help fight this invisible enemy.
So, to help alleviate boredom and some possible gloom and doom, let your creative juices flow and, if you have the skill and technology, show us your idea of what the Ford Truck ventilator will look like!
I understand the need , and it is great that so many companies are stepping up to help . But think for a second about the compaines that make ventelators , after this is over there will be a clut of ventolators and the regular ones will have no orders and shut down
As noted, I think the ventilators Ford is going to make are going to be disposable single use devices that probably won't affect the regular ventilator market very significantly. In any case, the established manufactures are likely in China anyway, so a little competion from Ford won't be a bad thing. One of the silver linings of the corona virus scare is that the Trump administration will be doing all they can to bring the manufacture of critical medical supplies and pharmaceuticals back to the United States.
I knew the PRC made a lot of our stuff but until this pandemic, I had no idea 95% of our medicine and 98% of our antibiotics are made in China. That scares me.

A quick story...years ago I was back in Cincinnati visiting a buddy who owned a body shop in town. We were standing in front of his shop looking across the road when I noticed a 1-story block building that seemed to be abandoned. He said that the building was a small arms factory which was kept in full operational condition just in case there was a war and there was a need to manufacture these weapons again in short order. An old guy came in once a month and serviced all the machines, kept everything oiled and rust free. I know that this can't be the only facility like this...our government is a lot sharper than that, not every government employee is an empty-headed, loud-mouthed politician. They just let China think that...and many citizens of this country as well.
