Since I've gotten my 352 running good again after a valve job and then having to do head gaskets twice, I'm looking to tackle swapping out my 4.10 Dana 70 for a 4.63 Dana 80. I already have the axle but have a few questions on which way I should take the swap. I can't find much on the swap, only seeing one post for dentside truck, which to my knowledge is a bit easier of a swap
1. Is it worth swapping out the shackles/hangers for the 2 1/4" leafs on my 350 for the shackles needed to put on 3" leafs like would've been on the F Super Duty I pulled it from or keep the 2 1/4" leafs and just get a fabricated backing plate for the Dana 80 tube size and 2 1/4" leafs
2.The only Dana 80 I could find was off a 1997 which has, in my opinion a weird way of hooking up its brakes(Ill attach pics if i remember). I was thinking of getting the part on the Super Duty's frame that attaches the axle's brake hose to the line on the frame and splicing it into my own line. The dealership says the part number is e8tz 2b547b, which comes up as a proportioning valve. I don't think this is correct though, as I have never heard of a proportioning valve being so far back on a vehicle, only with the rear brakes inline with it. Another way that came to mind to connect the brakes was by removing the breather tube to take of the block on the axle and see if either that old Dana 70 one would work or maybe from a Dodge Dana 80. I have no clue on if they even interchange, but any suggestions are welcome.
The dana 80 has no parking brake as you already know, I will give you the warning that you will need the superduty hydroboost and master cylinder to run those brakes properly. I swapped a D80 into my highboy.

Thanks for the response. Is the hydroboost absolutely necessary because to my knowledge the hydroboost uses the power steering pump and my truck is manual steering. Is it that a normal vacuum booster can't give enough braking force?

Have you seen the size of the rear brake calipers? Those need a large bore master cylinder and that will require a large booster which is why hydroboost was used.
