Questions replacement options for 2000 E150
I had a 2000 E150 standard length cargo van (V-6) that was recently stolen and in looking around for a replacement it seems that most vans that I am coming across are 2008 and up models. I understand that Ford made a number of changes to the E150 that increased the load capacity and I am curious how those changes effected the ride quality (both empty and loaded.)
Since I’m seeing many more E250’s (also ‘08 and up) and they seem to have a much similar rated capacity to the newer E150’s I’m also wondering how they might compare in ride quality to my 2000.
I realize that this is a very subjective question and that tire and suspension brands and condition can have a significant impact but I’m hoping that someone might have had first hand experience driving these vehicles either when new or with similar equipment in like condition.
Normally I’d just go out and test drive a number of vehicles to determine this but due to the current situation in my area I want to minimize taking public transportation as much as possible and I would also like to minimize the number of strangers that I am coming in contact with.
I drive my van about equally loaded vs. empty, though it is more often empty around town and loaded on the highway. I was very happy with my 2000 overall but it looks very unlikely that I will be able to find a direct replacement so I’m hoping to narrow down my search parameters a bit.
While this may be getting a bit off topic, I am even thinking about a Transit (standard length, medium roof) as I have seen a few advertised and they look like an interesting option (though a bit more money than I was hoping to spend.)
Thanks in advance for any information!
