2003 Expy Air Intake question.

My friend just bought a new 2003 Expy and while looking at the engine setup we noticed that the air intake has 2 mysterious plastic boxes attached to the intake. 1 before the filter and 1 after the filter. WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE THEY FOR?

Thanks

Big Mick

The workshop manual lists them as Resonators.

Reduce intake howl.

I removed the first one. I noticed a nice difference in sound. Guess they work... I'm in the process of removing the other.

Well you can hear the intake howl of that V8 a bit better in the cab now. I actually know that there is an engine under the hood.

Can't wait to get the new muffler!

MONSTA,

When you too the first one off, did you plug the hole or leave it open?

I'm thinking that if you leave it open, the vehicle could "SUCK" more air?

I left it open.

Big debate on pulling in hot air or pulling in the excessive brake dust from the fender.

I opted to pull in hot(ter) air (which only really happens when I'm stopped). My intake snorkel was covered with brake dust and mud.
